Continuing through the Parable of the Sower, Tim Miller focuses on the nature of the seed itself—the Word of God—and asks how disciples can distinguish good, healthy seed from distorted or destructive messages in a world filled with competing voices. This message highlights two important characteristics of good seed: it does not distort the truth, and it does not undermine the authority of the truth. Scripture calls believers to handle the Word of truth correctly, to resist twisting or selectively presenting God’s message, and to proclaim the whole counsel of God faithfully. The sermon also examines the divine authority of Scripture. God’s Word is not merely human opinion; Scripture is God-breathed, authoritative, and intended to be heard and obeyed. The danger is not only openly rejecting Scripture, but also allowing tradition, outside standards, personal preferences, or simple refusal to obey to effectively undermine what God has spoken. While questions and doubts are part of the Christian life, recognizing the authority of God’s Word creates an opportunity for growth rather than shipwreck, especially when Scripture confronts something we do not immediately understand or like.
