In this continuation of the Matthew series, Tim Miller begins a study of Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” This sermon explores the biblical meaning of shalom—not merely the absence of conflict, but wholeness, well-being, harmony, salvation, and healthy relationships. God is the ultimate maker of peace, graciously reconciling sinners to Himself through Jesus Christ. As God’s children, believers are called to reflect their Father by pursuing what builds others up, serving rather than seeking greatness, working through conflict, forgiving, promoting unity, and carrying the message of reconciliation. True peace must be actively pursued with humility, gentleness, patience, love, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
